Senate Decisions Regarding the Spring Semester of 2022-2023

The decisions taken by our University Senate regarding the 2022-2023 Spring Semester Education and Training at the meeting dated 20.02.2023 are as follows:
1) The 2022-2023 Academic Year Spring Semester will start on February 27, 2023.
2) In the 2022-2023 Spring Semester, education and training, except for practical training, will be conducted via distance education (online) method.
3) The decision on distance education will be reviewed again at the beginning of April 2023. If conditions become favorable, blended (hybrid) teaching methods may also be considered in line with the decisions of the Higher Education Council. The theoretical part of the courses in all academic units (preparatory, associate degree, undergraduate, and graduate) except for the units that will receive face-to-face practical training will be conducted via distance education method. The practical part of the courses will be postponed until after April, and if distance education continues after April, the practical parts of such courses may be conducted during the summer term or completed with practical project work based on the decisions of our University Senate.
4) Face-to-face practical training will be announced on the relevant unit's website.
5) Course registration/renewal procedures will be carried out online between February 23 - March 3, 2023, and add-drop procedures will be carried out online between March 6-10, 2023.
6) Our associate and undergraduate program students who are in the graduation stage and have incomplete internships will complete their mandatory internships in the relevant workplaces face-to-face as per the curriculum of their registered program.
7) All students who request it will be granted the right to freeze their registration in the spring semester. Graduate students in the thesis stage will be given an additional semester. These periods will not be deducted from the maximum education period of the student's program.
8) Students who wish to benefit from the special student status must meet the following conditions.
a. Being a student enrolled in universities in the provinces affected by the earthquake (Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, and Gürün district of Sivas province) or being a student enrolled in universities in provinces outside the earthquake zone where their first-degree relatives reside in the earthquake-affected provinces,
b. Students enrolled in programs within the scope of the "Framework Regulation on Practical Training in Higher Education" will apply for special student status within 3 weeks starting from February 27, 2023.
9) Students who wish to benefit from the special student status will apply with the application petition they prepare to the student affairs unit of the relevant faculty-program, attaching the student certificate they obtained from the YÖK e-transcript. The special student period within this scope will be evaluated independently of the special student period determined in the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Special Student Directive.
10) Make-up and single course exam rights will be granted for the 2022-2023 Fall Semester associate, undergraduate, and graduate programs, and the dates of these exams will be announced at a later date to be determined by our University Senate.
11) Graduate courses will be conducted through distance education platforms (other than the UZEM system) determined by the instructors.
12) The academic calendar will continue to be applied in academic units that started education and training before the relevant date.
